Smile Jim, Q Re: Self Run Businesses

Hi Jim,

Thanks for Sharing Your Knowledge.

Recently, You mentioned that You have a few 'Self Run' Businesses.

How do You go about starting them?
As in, How do You go about finding one (or coming up with the idea for each one?)

I know that You mentioned one of them before somewhere,
but I can't find the post.

It WAS Great Info, so I figured I'd ASK You here for more of how You do it.

Christopher

Greeting Chris,

A self-running business is any business that you own, but have others doing all the work.

I understand this is just a basic definition, but it should give you an idea of how to look at your current business and look for ways where you can find those that can work in your place. All you have to do is oversee the operation.

Hi Woody,

Thanks for responding.

Yes, I understand the concept, but I believe that Jim's was
specifically geared towards referral systems and/or lead generation systems,
if I'm Not Mistaken.

For Example;
(Dang if I can't find that post of His... )
He mentioned something about a specific type of ladder that gets installed inside the house to reach the attic.
(again, I WISH that I can find His post!)
He knew where to get them at a good price,
hired someone to do the installations,
(I believe that it was an already established company,)
and found the customers.
The Link between the Customers and the Business that
He hired to install them may have been a secretary to track things?
(again, I'm not sure 'cause I can't Find that Stinkin' Post!)

But, basically, that was the sum and substance...

I'm curious about His methods of getting the customers
(being the link between the 'Worker Bees' and the Customers.)
(along with how He comes up with the ideas, as well...)

Any experience or knowledge on this?

Thanks.

Christopher

It was Michael Gerber how said work on the business not in it.

Basically they only way I know is to delegate. And that is hard. No one wanted to work for what they bring in. And that is the only way I would delegate.

I tried to get some students the wanted paid learning and getting their own clients they could not do, even if I taught them that.

Your so right, Jim. I love to hear more of what you think. You got it right.

Michael Gerber has many things on his site to help with this. Yes, you have to put everything in writing which is a job in it self. I policy book is recommended.

And for all business their is a great old book that everyone should have and it is a money marker for the business man or women. It is my favorite business book: Elmer Wheeler's "Tested Sentences" You can get a free chapter at:
http://www.joetrevison.com/downloads...eschapter1.pdf

Then if you want more chapter go to http://www.Joetrevison.com/shop

You will love the book like I do.

I got this idea from that book. It is Elmer Wheeler "show it with flowers" principle.
