Default Oh God, spare me one more MINDSET post, thread, or comment.

Seriously.

I don't even know what MINDSET means anymore, and this from a guy who for years offered how to get the right mindset advice.

It has become the Internet's go to for all things unsuccessful, for a given person. You can spend all day surfing forums, Reddits, blogs, social media...and you find an almost universal response to someone, anyone, struggling.

Struggling with ANY part of their life. Weight. Appearance. Business. Self-image.

You will see this: "Change your mindset" or, "You have the wrong mindset"

Total strangers know what is wrong with you, how great is that?

OH, all I have to do is to change my mindset? Swell, I'll head over to Walmart and have it changed, isn't that department back with the Auto repair bays? I can change my oil and my mindset in one easy, simple, convenient stop.

YES, it is a billion dollar industry, called by many names; Self Improvement, Personal Development, Transformation, Actualization, etc., etc.

And every book ever written has WORKED for someone, but is there one that works for EVERYONE?

I'm about to take a vacation, or hiatus, or retreat so as to work on my mindset. Thinking maybe electric shock treatments, but they would have to be at least as strong as what Jack Nicholson got at the end of ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST.

I think that would cure me of Internet MINDSET stuff.

How is your mindset, got it all right?

Gordon

Default Now that you mention it, a NEW Facebook group is coming.

Thanks, I'm going to start (maybe) a new Facebook group, that way I can control all of that stuff. May become me and three other people, but at least we won't have to hear about changing our mindset.

So, what should I call this group?

Well, I don't know. But an answer to a recent question seems to help, me and the people who are asking.

The question: How long have you been a copywriter?

And I wrote back: "I'm NOT. Have never called myself that professionally, never marketed myself as one for hire. Writing copy, even direct response copy is just a part of my Artistry, as an English language artist."

So, he was confused, but it was as accurate, truthful as I can get.

It has to do with labels. Like POET. Well, I do write it, have posted several here over the years, have books full of poems, but I don't want to be labeled as a POET.

I write short stories. But I'm not a short story writer.
Nor am I an article writer.
Or a blogger.

And though I've written some plays, and scripts, as I've posted about here, I am neither a Playwright nor a Script Writer. Yea, yea, yea, a generalist, even an artist of words, would probably do better

commercially

with a focus on one area. But, although I do have a commercial side to my art, mostly HOW TO reports and such...in general...

I find it interesting several successful copywriters were also screenwriters, and movie makers.

Getting one's ideas across, can sometimes take persuasion, influence, salesmanship...all part of my background.

Performing some stand up, or making little movies give life to the spoken artist within.

So, I think I'll set up a private Facebook group for those other artists who use the English language to express themselves.

Anyone here have an interest?

Like I said, may just be the two or three of us.

Gordon Jay Alexander ELA English Language Artist

I want to express myself, with WORDS, either spoken, written or visually.
