Is this 'dang' a sowpub invention
I notice a lot of people at this forum using the word 'dang' a lot. This is a new one for me. Am I behind the times, is this an American adaptation of 'dam' or 'darn' or is it strictly a word you use at sowpub?
I'm curious. The first time I saw it, it actually stuck with me and I was wondering about it in the shower one day. If you actually say it out loud, you are liable to bite your lip. Could be a dangerous word to use if you're really angry at someone. No? Regards, Eliz. |

Re: Is this 'dang' a sowpub invention
When I was alittle boy (a long time ago) dang or dang-it was a word that I could say, and my mother would just look at me and point her finger, instead of get the belt or switch, if I would say damn or damn-it!
Of course I grew up on a farm in the Bible Belt of the old South, and that was a long time ago! Richard Speaking of that, sometimes I'll tell you the story about my first wife, that ran off with the Baptist Preacher! Gave the OLD South something to talk about! |
