Default I will survive!

Hello All,

Just another snowy day here in Buffalo NY, and as usual I'm out researching ideas for marketing my online business's, when I stumbled onto this site. I must say that there are some very knowledgeable people here and will enjoy checking out their pages. But first I must ask a favor. Being a LOW advertising budget business owner, I must ask for tips and ideas as to how to get my business ventures known to the shopping public.

Please realize that I do not want any get rich quick schemes, (one of the business's I own is an art gallery, trust me they are NOT get rich quick schemes LOL) nor spam, but any legal, legitimate, and useful tips or hints would be much appreciated. I've been at this for two years now and am always looking for ways to find new markets to sell our wares. I will survive in this business! I refuse to come a statistic of another failed online business that has went under due to bad marketing techniques!

So thank you for your time, wishing peace to you and yours,

Donna Padgett

Just a quick note to tell you that I'll be in touch by email shortly with some suggestions, for you...

The reason I wanted to post a reply here, as well as emailing, is to point out the above sentences. That attitude is a winner's attitude. I really believe that success has more to do with perseverance than anything else.

The late Irving stone spent a lifetime writing novelized biographies of men such as Michelangelo, Vincent van Gogh, Sigmund Freud, and Charles Darwin. Stone was once asked if he had found a thread that runs through the lives of exceptional people. He said,

"They are beaten over the head, knocked down, vilified, and for years they get nowhere. But every time they're knocked down they stand up. You cannot destroy these people. And at the end of their lives they've accomplished some modest part of what they set out to do."

Keep that attitude, Donna, it's a winning one.
Good luck, and I'll be in touch by email. : )

Sincerely,
Linda

Default Low budget promotion techniques....

Hi Donna,

I also believe you have the right attitude for success.... :)

Here are some ideas for very low budget promotion tactics....

* Post on forums where you think people who would buy your products would be.... Make sure they are relevant and you are taking part in the discussion! Then leave a link.... I like this way of promotion, because you are giving as well as taking.... :)

* Start a regular ezine on your web site. This way you "capture" people who come to your web site.... That is, you can continue to contact them. However, make sure your ezine is worth reading.... (Sowpub will be - finally - getting our ezine going soon....)

* Start a discussion forum. However, it can take time (I speak with the voice of experience!)

* Try to get yourself listed on search engines under good key words. However, it is not always easy to get a good ranking and can be quite competitive....

* Submit your web site to as many relevant online directories as you can find (eg. Yahoo!, Looksmart, and other smaller directories)....

* Press releases. I haven't done this myself yet, but it is probably the technique with the greatest promotion potential.... As they say: "Dog bites man" -- that's not news. "Man bites dog" -- now that's news!

I hope that's a good start.... Any others?

Default My Personal Favorite......

> Hi Donna,

Here is my personal favorite:

Submitting articles for publication to Ezines and websites. If you are posting to forums, you can write articles.

If you are writing articles, you are creating content for both your own site as well as for ezines and other sites.

Here are some of the sources that I use to list my articlesin other words, get the word out about who I am and what I have to say to the world:

Websites:
http://www.ideamarketers.com
http://www.ezinearticles.com
http://www.themestream.com (This one pays per hit on your articles)

Email lists for Submitting/Receiving Content

Visit these lists to see the sort of articles/contents writers
are submitting. I imagine other email list companies such as
Topica have other announce type groups, but this will at least
give you a start.

http://www.egroups.com/group/Free-Content (Business/Motivational Only)
http://www.egroups.com/group/article_announce *** Over 1,000 subscribers
http://www.egroups.com/group/article_archives
http://www.egroups.com/group/PublishinYours

If you write ANYTHING motivational, I highly recommend sending your articles
to Josh Hinds, whose website is
http://www.joshhinds.com He is always looking for quality inspirational
content. You can email directly to Josh at:
[email protected] (Tell him I sent you, we have become close friends besides publisher/writer and he usually treats my friends very well!)

Also, if you write inspirational/motivational material, I also am always
looking for material. You can submit your work to me at [email protected] There are several folks who visit this and other forums whose material I have published. You know who you are! :-)

Resource boxes are how people who read your articles know who you are and how to find you.

My thought is always the shorter and snappier the better. Here are
several I use, with the one I am using most of the time right now
as the first example:
