Angelo and 3 other rangers tore up floor boards from the train and dropped onto the tracks, one was killed instantly, two were wounded and Angelo survived. Then he spent 5 months behind enemy lines, this was several months before D Day.

Friend of the forum, and personal friend, Steve DiMarco was told the story as his father lay on his death bed. The book, written by Steve's cousin, Daniel Annechino, is MORE THAN A SOLDIER.

I too, think it would make a good movie.

Can you even imagine the idea of dropping onto railroad tracks from a fast moving train and then surviving for months behind enemy lines?

I have a couple of copies of the book, if you like good WWII stories, this is a fast paced book culled from the true events of one man's heroic escape.

MORE THAN A SOLDIER, available at Amazon.

Hi Gordon,

That's a wonderful interview with Daniel Annechino that you linked to...

I encourage everyone to at least watch the interview.

Thanksgiving happened not too long ago... Sometimes we forget all the things we can be thankful for. Not suffering in war - as they did in World War II and other wars - is definitely a big one I'm thankful for...

About 10 years ago I spent a few months in South Korea. The people live their lives normally, but they're aware that just across the border in North Korea there's a madman with nuclear weapons constantly threatening them. I'm also glad I got out of there (because I didn't like living in the shadow of a madman with nukes)!

Thanks Gordon... Great story. And good reminder to be grateful for the blessings we have, too...

Best wishes,

Dien
