Default High Impact Marketing Face-to-Face

Often are the times I have used wild and crazy packages to get in the door to a business I wanted to help.

However, I was thinking... how could someone do this face-to-face without looking crazy.

I was thinking that a HOT SHEET with a few crazy or outrageous marketing examples MIGHT work. (These examples have GOT to be ones that actually worked for a business at some time)

The other way might be to introduce yourself at a networking event as a person who uses "Outrageous Marketing" to get things done. And then give examples.

You can tell that I like to use unusual ways to make sales.

I've always believed that in order to STAND OUT, you must do something DIFFERENT... so people remember you. I once created something special for Fran Tarkenton who I met for breakfast as a guest of a friend. Fran then gave me his personal number and said he wanted to hear from me.

Doing something special and making someone know that you care about them is a way to build rapport and open their minds. I remember years ago at a Dale Carnegie lesson (I was taking the entire several week course) to find something about the person that you can truly say something good about... it is very helpful. And a good thing to do.

Default This made me think about "lumpy mail" and "lumpy email"...

Hi Millard!

Great post!

For some reason, your post made me think of "lumpy mail" promotions...

"Lumpy mail" is when someone receives mail... But it's not your usual, flat envelope.

Instead, it's obviously "lumpy" - there's something "lumpy" inside it!

The curiosity as to what it is gets people to open it up and pay attention!

I've thought for a long time as to whether there's an email equivalent to "lumpy mail"...

The closest I've been able to come up with is to use an attention-getting picture in your email...

I've experimented a little with this - but I should do more!

I would say my experiments were successful... But again, I need to do more of it...

When I've done this, I've often tried to use a picture that's humorous... (But not in an offensive way! Usually something a little silly...)

FREAKING amazing.

Gary Was a Testing Maniac.

I coach Dr to Dr and Phone Telemarketers
based on his Hi Profit Door to Door Tested Strategies.

#1 - IF you do dr to dr Sales - You Do not TELL the home owner you want to Sell them.

You Pretend to be LOST.

#2 - Gary wanted to look SWEATY so he Used a water Bottle to Spray his face.

#3 - Gary wanted folks to Feel Sorry for him. He Rumpled his Hair. Complained about his boss. Pulled his Tie Crooked.

#4 - Gary said, "I am looking for Ralph Barnes. (Which just happened to be a neighbor 2 houses away)

#5 - Gary was SO Grateful - after he Got Inside to get a Drink Of Water.

Default $1000 Gift

I appreciate the post about Gary Halbert and his face spraying water gambit.

As a former performer, I know that there are numerous ways to create a mood, look, or expectation in the minds of audiences just by doing simple things.

I learned many things while being on stage and often it was learning just how to say something.

I imagine in the example of the $1000 gift, it was a discount on a product or services. But one has to be cautious of exactly what is said. The implication in the wording is that a person will get $1000. Of course, they think they are getting $1000 cash... when actually it could be a discount. Since I don't know exactly the situation, I can only surmise what is going on from the description.

Btw, as well in this posts as well in others you mentioned your savings with an inexpensive solar light that packs small. There is a more robust solar light that can light up big areas that is also portable... it is called Lyte Bug. It is very sturdy from what I have seen.

Thanks Glenn for the pizza box marketing.

I can see how this ego marketing would work better than the High Impact marketing I have done in the past. Although I can get in the door with most anyone by sending a package that contains a shoe, or fishing rod, or special object that is geared specifically to the owner or CEO I am aiming at... the value of your description of the pizza box gambit is in the specific use of the face of the CEO.

You are RIGHT ! The EGO technique is powerful.
