Default infousa new business lists

Has anyone used the InfoUSA new business lists to get names of new businesses and market your products to them?

http://list.infousa.com/cgi-bin/abicgi/abicgi.pl?cca_username=DEMO&cca_password=DEMO&bas_ session=S11886711802814&bas_elements=&bas_vendor=1 90000&bas_type=NBL&bas_page=999&bas_action=new

This is a list of new businesses that were formed in the previous week/month.

The data seems cheap and the rep told me that they are about 80% accurate for non-verified listings.

Is the data accurate and are most of the listings of businesses that are new?

This seems a cheap way to market services similiar to the way new movers are marketed.

I like have some a little cheaper. I called my state office a few years ago for the new corporations in PA and it was only about $50. I like that even better free. This information should be available free or near free because it is public information.

Hi Guys,

I was unable to find new business listings in any of your links (although I did not look very hard).

There was one area in searchsystems but that was commercial.

Google local does not give businesses that have just opened their doors, only businesses that are in a specific geographic area.

Same with Yahoo local and Windows Live local. Business have to be around for a while to make it into one of those databases. I think they get their data from the yellow page listings and I don't know if those are updated as often as white pages.

I did find this though

http://www.ci.modesto.ca.us/fin/busl...o=6&PageSize=5

which is what I am searching for. I may have to go to each different local government to and ask for the information so I then I will have to weigh the cost of my time.

I know this is public information but the listings are less than a postage stamp each and they are supposed to be very current. I am looking for business that have *just* opened their doors and need busiess services (eg. Accounting, copiers etc.)

Thanks for the links guys.

Angry Re: infousa new business lists

I was trying to identify a list of people moving to my county on a monthly basis from outside the county.

I thought of these "public" lists so went down to the power company... They wanted a $45 set up fee and $25 per month for this and several other counties. Probably not a bad deal if I wanted all of them. But I don't...

I'm still waiting to see the price for just my county!

Somehow, this "public" information is being cordoned off in the name of homeland security, protecting identity theft or some other way to justify sticking their hand out for money!

I knew of a stock broker who used to go to the utility company and because it was public information be allowed to look through their book of new customers... that's ancient history!

I just talked to the business licencing office of my city and they would give me the previous 200 names for $20 but only if I specified a category (eg. contractors).

The names are cheap but there are lots of categories and just getting the new companies would requires that I buy the list of many categories.

These lists are then effectively out of reach of the average person and you are better off purchasing from these mailing list companies who buy them and resell.

I don't know if this is the same situation with other city departments though so you should check.
