Default Bookstore in Tokyo charges $13 for admission!

When Amazon started, many physical book stores struggled... The Borders chain closed its doors for good...

Now... A Tokyo bookstore is even charging a $13 entrance fee just to go in!

However, they stock their bookstore with unusual and rare books - and only have one copy of each in stock.

They put up a book-related exhibition in their lobby - so in that way, it's a little bit like a mini-museum...

They have a cafe with - can you believe it - free coffee and green tea!

They sell meals and desserts there too (the meals and desserts aren't free though)...

It also has a library-like set up, so you can sit down and read to your heart's content...

This is a new concept... I hope it works! I'd love it if a bookstore like this opened near me... Yeah, I'd probably pay the entrance fee (but I'd make sure I'd get my money's worth in coffee)!

Default We need one here in Cuyahoga Falls.

I'm in.

We are in the beginning of a downtown renewal, and there are some spaces available.

Perhaps a Seeds Of Wisdom book store/coffee house?

Maybe specialize in out of print, older books, or the little known, arcane, somewhat off the beaten path type. FREE coffee...cool beans.

AND a small stage for evening performers/poets/or even workshops. A couple of "study rooms" to rent out, and a place to broadcast from, webinars, weekly shows.

My friend in AshEville, N.C. used to broadcast a weekly show from a little store, now the local WHOLE FOODS, so there are many possible revenue streams with something like this.

Let's put a biz plan together and shop it around and use OPM to establish a prototype, one of a 100 SOW coffee houses across USA/OZ/EUROPE, EH?

Our legacy?

FREE coffee and rare books.

Default Tokyo has Horrific SMOG Dien

Thanks Dien,

I thought for sure the bookstore
would also offer OXYGEN!

There are already retail shops
where all they sell is 5 minutes of Pure Oxygen.

Might be a good Joint Venture
btwn the two stores.

Hi Glenn,

Great idea!

On a more serious note... One of my late father's cousins is in his 80s. He needs a tank of oxygen to be able to live. It means it's very hard (basically impossible) for him to move around... (He still has a very active life on Facebook, though, and participates in church services, for example, via the internet...)

I wonder if "oxygen bars" could help people like him?

It's a serious thought...

Best wishes,

Dien

Sounds like a great idea, Gordon!

We also need a seminar room out back where people can learn the Square One Workshops...!

Best wishes,

Dien
