Default Memorial Day

Many here have served in the armed forces, and risked their lives to help preserve our freedoms and happiness...

I just want to take a moment to acknowledge the sacrifices many have made, many with their lives, but also in some cases with their health and their abilities. They absolutely deserve our respect and support for the sacrifices they have made on our behalf.

And in addition, to all who have served, thank you.

Dien

Default Memorial Day Parade

I followed the last of the military presentations in the parade today up to the Oakwood Cemetery.

Two guys I like to mention on this day, classmate Clayton Wichert, killed in Vietnam and Lt. Melvin Dry, killed while returning to submarine Grayback during rescue operation.

Also, my father, Webster Alexander who drove an Army ambulance with his buddy Gordon Rose (my namesake) during the S. Pacific islands campaigns. They retrieved body parts and corpses.

And Uncle Frank Yoder, a Marine during WW ll also serving in the S. Pacific.

To all veterans, we salute you and appreciate your sacrifice.

Gordon
