Default Question About Phone Sales

I'm working on a low-cost, simple ad program and want to reach business owners. Can I myself, and possibly some skilled reps try to reach them by phone and sell them directly if we can establish credibilty and sell them well?

The reason I ask is that I work part time doing telemarketing and THIS IS HOW WE DO IT EVERY DAY. I'm thinking, why can't I do this for my own program?

Please advice, thanks!

Phil, as usual, hit the nail on the head.
If you are selling by phone, get on Art's mailing list and you'll never regret it. I've never purchased any of his stuff, but the information he provides ... even for free ... is priceless.

Default oops, missed the point

I jumped the gun and missed the whole point of Larry's first post!
Yes, Larry, of course you can do the same thing.
You have the skills, the tools, you know the pitfalls and the hurdles you will face. You certainly can market to local businesses the same way.
Now, is that the best way to approach it? that is another question. But it is a GOOD way to get going, and it may be the BEST way for YOU to start your venture, because of your experience and that you will be in your "comfort zone."

Sounds like these two have pretty much answered your questions. I would like to add that I think it seems like a great venture to get involved in as long as you take your time and do your homework on establishing a quick rapport with the potential clients via phone.

Default Thanks to all, question about billing

I'm checking out Art's materials right now. But does anyone have any suggestions on how to collect the payment? The company I'm working for now is larger and well-known, so it's not as much of a problem.

Bill them after the first ad? Direct them to an online site? Do it directly over the phone (which might be harder)?

Thanks!

Default Everyone has been so helpful. Since I'm on a roll, I need to ask this, please:

Okay, I just want to make this real short. If you (each person) were going to do an ad website and didn't have a lot to spend, how would you do it or what would you suggest? I want to keep it as basic, simple and cheap as possible, but I understand it needs a lot of promotion.

So far, I want to make it one site for special people like new homeowners, employees of certain business and other select groups, who will be informed that they'll get really special deals here because of who they are or what they belong to.

I'll give the business owners a great deal, as they'll be informed on the phone calls.

Any ideas on how I could put this together would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
