What's the one thing you must do...?

Hi All,

What's the ONE thing you MUST do to guarantee you come out a winner in anything that you do?

There are as many answers to the above question as there are people, but I am looking for one specific answer for a report on self help and motivation I'm working on. If no one can give me the answer I'm looking for, then I have a very powerful, saleable product!

Hmm... good question. :)

If you mean succeed in anything you do (not just marketing), my personal answer would be to have persistence.

I like to feel I'm a success in several areas.... Having been a physics academic, a successful stock market investor, and now I'm working on my success in the world of entrepreneurship, from my experience I think persistence is truly one of the key elements of success. Don't give up!

In my opinion, most people give up too soon if things don't work out for them instantly....

And I usually couple persistence with a second element, which is experimentation.... Keep trying new things if the old things you're trying don't work!

Even if things don't work out at first, if you are persistent, and experiment, you'll eventually figure out what works!

Paul, I hope you'll share your answer here when you feel it would be appropriate.... :)

Hi Paul and All!

Given my propensity for passion, I must say that the one thing you MUST do is to have a Passionate Belief in what it is you are setting out to achieve.

If you can not BELIEVE it, then you will never ACHIEVE it....and EVERYTHING on the planet starts with a thought. That thought gives way to belief which then breathes a concept into reality.

So, Paul, is that THE answer?!

Anyway. You want the ONE THING...

Okay. Here goes...

In a nutshell: First there comes Thought. Second, Word. Third, ACTION.

Before that: Responsibility.

And before that, the ONE THING: The decision.

And remember: If no action has taken place, a decision has not really been made.

In the words of Yoda "Do or Do Not, there is no try"

We really only ever have two choices to decide between at any given time. Each choice then leads to another two choices - always breaking it down further and further. So it can seem like we have a lot of choices to make.

So to guarantee to come out a winner, you must first decide to come out a winner. After that comes the details.

Reminds me of the story of the young man who went
up into the mountains to find the wise man. After
walking for weeks, he finally finds the guy. He
says, "what must I do to be successful".
The wise man throws him into the water and holds
him under. Then he lets him up and pushes him
down again. Lets' him up and pushes him down a
third time.
He comes up and says "you old fool I ask you how
to be successful and you try to drown me"...
