Default Is Email Marketing Really Like Direct (Snail Mail) Marketing?

Hello, Everyone.

I've been told that email marketing is basically like direct mail marketing. Have others here found this to be true?

Apparently, the message you put in the subject line is just like the teaser copy that would go on the outside of the envelope (so as to increase the chance of your message being read). Is this also correct?

And, the main difference is your email copy should not be nearly as long as a direct mail letter might be. It should read more like a postcard.

Does this make sense to anyone here?

Now, I ask because I have website that I've been promoting through forum postings (sig file), articles, and joint ventures. But, I've been thinking about using direct email marketing to "double-optins" (CAN-Spam compliant).

There is one company I found that, after reading the faqs, really seems to be on the up and up: DoubleOptinMedia (add a dot com). Is anybody here familiar with them?

Anyway, before I leap into what seems almost too good to be true, I though I'd get some input from the Members of this Forum.

Thanks for sharing Guys.

Default Why Snail Mail Is THE SECRET On-Line List Building Tactic

Hi,

Thanks.

What you say is true.

Email letters and snail mail letters all face the same Challenges.

Except the guys with the BIGGEST Lists
all got them Quicker using Snail Mail Marketing.

(I know cuz I quiz their team members.)

If you want to Use Direct Mail to drive new prospects to a sign up page on-line.

All these are a given -

A HOT BUTTON Headline
A Targeted Emotional 1st Sentence.
A Pre-tested REASON WHY
Valuable and New Information about a niched topic

You've got to do MORE.

CREDENTIAL yourself.

Create a Climate of TRUST.

ONE WAY is to Set Up a Landing Page which contains a mini-Gold Mine of content.

FREE Reports, White papers, Books, Videos, Audio Interviews
on an Archive Resource Page. Each with a tested TiTLE or headline.

Then The REST of THE TREASURE
Is listed in Bullet Points and Testimonials
Down the page - above the sign up form.

Thanks,
Glenn

P.S. - Surveys and Questionnaires show us that most people don't want to
go to the effort of using snail mail. AND the "Experts and Gurus" don't want
to share their Best Munny and List Building ideas.

SO - Snail mail will STAY a secret weapon for building on-line lists. Hush
hush. REASON #3 - is Because the major players can't charge their
customers for Direct Mail ideas.

P.P.S. - THANKS to some of you for bidding on my Snail Mail Letter at Ebay,
"How A Waitress Bought Her Restaurant Out of Her TIPS."

Before I drop a letter to a rented list I always pre-test the offer. Ebay's new
rules makes it FREE to put up any length of sales letter for 2, 5, 7, 10, or
even 30 days - NO CHARGE. (Quicker test results than snail mail!)

Default New Ebay FREE AUCTION Rules Cut the Risk-Boost Profits

Dear TW,

Thanks for asking.

Ebay has changed their rules in the last 60 days.

IF you start auction bids at 99 cents or less, you can list any product, service or book or VIDEO BOOK for 1, 2 3, 5, 7, 10 or even 30 days for FREE.

And they dropped the cost of "Buy-It-Now" items way way down too - on the front end.

Which is Common Sense. The more auctions posted the more Ebay makes on the back end.

I have one auction that is 4 days old.

Two items that are 30 day Buy-It-Now with a Fixed price.

All 3 Sales letters are costing me less than a stick of gum to put up there.

And I can refer people I talk to there.

I simply stick a LINK in my email follow up note - AFTER the phone call.

Like This.

This is Part I of a follow up Email to a guy who says Coffee makes him sick
but he is falling asleep at his desk at the Navy.

I GUARANTEE these 5 Exercises (3 minutes a day) will STOP you snoring at your Navy Desk!
Or Double Your Moolah back.

Default Re: Is Email Marketing Really Like Direct (Snail Mail) Marketing?

Thanks for asking Thomas.

Two different points of comparison:

1. Message
2. Recepients

1. Message wise, you can compare email marketing with postcard marketing.

2. Recepient wise, you can't compare the two. Do not in any way rent any kind of an email mailing list. You'll face all sorts of problems and most likely most ISPs will blacklist your domain for spamming. Even though your message may have been legit.

If you don't already have your own mailing list, don't rent. But do joint venture. Write emails - that other folks with mailing lists can send to their recepients - but not as ads - but as recommendations.

Hope this helps.

Default Re: Is Email Marketing Really Like Direct (Snail Mail) Marketing?

All experience that I have had with postcard marketing has been successful and in my area it seems to work well. I believe the most positive outcome of direct mail is just getting the business' name out into the public. Everyone checks their mailbox, and since not everyone checks their spam email folder, the email marketing doesn't always work as well.
