is seo still working in 2018?

I used to make a lot of money with little niche sites back in 2011..
Is it still working these days to any of you guys?

Little niche sites don't need SEO, per se, do they? If you have a list or a traffic source other than searches, why wouldn't they work? They do for us anyhow.
