Studies on ethnicity, cultural patterns ect on buying...know of any?

I got to thinking that, since we cater to a worldwide audience, perhaps we should know more about the influence of ethnicity, cultural patterns and how they influence buying habits. Unfortunately, current information on this is sorely lacking for some reason...or I've been looking in the wrong places.

Does anyone know of resources that address these issues?
