Hi Gordon,

Thanks for reminding us about the power of Hotsheets!

I was going through a product I bought a few years ago... But I didn't want to go through the whole thing (DVDs etc.) to remember it all...

Luckily, this product creator had included several hotsheets in with his product! Little "cheat sheets" that summarize the essence of his product's teachings!

Which is a reminder... Hotsheets can be sold alone. But they also have other purposes... They can be quickly made up as bonuses (even a list of relevant links - to the best websites on a particular topic - can be a valuable bonus). Or they can be included with a product, to make it even more useful to the customer...

Back when I was in high school, I used to make my own little "cheat sheets" for the subjects I was studying. I'd go through my notes, and summarize all the key points. I'm sure many other students did this too. Now, I realize - I was in fact creating my own "Hotsheets"! (If only I had thought to sell them then... I bet I could have sold a few!) All you have to do is do this... Get a book or two, and summarize it as you read. (It could even be a book or report you've written yourself.) Then boil it down further to the "essence"... And voila! You have a "hotsheet"!

Another example of a "hotsheet" is a "check list". Michael Ross has written about checklists before (http://www.sowpub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=730) and how useful they are. A "check list" can also be a hotsheet. Dan Kennedy has used one as a "bonus" in his promotions (I'm looking at one now where there's a promise you'll get "Dan Kennedy's checklist for becoming an innovative thinker").

You can also put these on your web page - for example, you can check out Denny Hatch's check list for successful promotions (http://dennyhatch.com/tons/checklist.html).

Also, thanks for the reminder of the "Institute" model of business. That's not something I've done anything with (yet) - but I can see how it can be profitable... Hmm... It gets the gears and cogs of your mind whirring... :)

PS. 07 is almost half over...are you making it happen? It isn't too late, through June, you can still get the little report on: How to Make IT Happen in 2007, even if you don't know what IT is...for only 10 bux...here:

http://www.angelfire.com/biz/gjbiz/makeithappen.html

I had gotten Gordon's report earlier in the year, and I just re-read it. If you haven't made things happen yet for you in '07 - then get his report. It will help motivate you to get something happening. Then produce something quickly (you'll see what I mean when you read it), so you can get going! The year is passing by quickly...!

Thanks for your "report from the road", Gordon!

Cheers,

Dien
