I'm familiar with the major online marketing methods. It seems the tried and true, articles, word of mouth and ppc work best. What do you think?

What methods are your proven winners and how many do you use? Not mediocre but GOOD performers.

Do you FOCUS on one or two main marketing methods? Is this a case where Pareto's law applies, whereby 80% of the results come from 20% of the methods employed?

Is there time to mess with the rest?
Which marketing method is best?

It depends on what you're marketing!

For example, if you own your own product, affiliate marketing can be very good. That is, provide a product which affiliates can sell for a cut of the profit. If you know what you're doing, and you have a good product, and if you're paying a decent commission, this is probably potentially the fastest way to sell anything online.

When you hear about online marketers selling a million dollars worth of a product in a day (or other large sales numbers in a short time period), it is practically always due (in part) to affiliate marketing.

The important part is to also put in an effort to getting affiliates, and encourage them to promote your product... Then it's win/win for everyone.

However... What if you don't have a product you're selling? For example, let's say you're an affiliate yourself, and you're promoting someone else's product?

In that case, obviously, you can't have your own affiliates to sell the product!

That means that you'll need a different method of marketing...

In that case, some of those other methods you mention may work out to be the best!

There are always multiple ways to market a product... Don't rely on just one method, but use multiple methods to promote your stuff, and keep testing!

One method you didn't mention was creating your own opt-in email list. Once it's grown, and if you have a good relationship with your list, then it can be very powerful too.

Best wishes,

Dien
