If you've ever looked for the perfect illustration of what a bunch of entrepreneurs can achieve, versus a government-planned economy, here it is:

Hi Richard,
Wow - that map is a real "eye-opener" !
North Korea has to be probably the most oppressive place on earth right now. If you get on the "wrong side" of the state, they not only put you in a concentration camp - but also all your family, and your descendents for three generations - meaning also your innocent children and grandchildren...
(This sounds like an exaggeration, but sadly it's true - you can Google it (http://www.google.com/search?q=north+korea+concentration+camp+three+gene rations)...)
On the other hand, South Korea is thriving. It's a real democracy, and has free enterprise...
I've visited Seoul (in South Korea). There are markets there which are open all night - if that's your thing... But - if you wanna eat Korean food, it helps if you like kimchi! (Koreans like to eat kimchi as a side dish with every meal!)
Best wishes,
Dien
