Ike Handy wrote two great books on golf.

How to hit the golf ball straight.

It's the Damn Ball.

He was a golf great.

Took up the game when he was over 50. In about 3 years, with just a few hundred hours of practice, he mastered the sport, one which is considered to be one of the most difficult sports to master.

10,000 hours of hitting the ball wrongly isn't going to produce champions, only sorry AZZ golfers who can repeat their crummy swings over and over and over.

Give me a person with 500 hours of the right kind of "practice" over the grinder of time any day of the week.

Thanks Phil for sharing that unusual business!

I'm currently reading "The Talent Code" by Daniel Coyle, one of several books which talks about the "10,000 hours" of practice...

It's not only the practicing which is important, but also "how" you practice. To become a true expert, it's important to keep "pushing" your limits, rather than to keep mindlessly doing the "easy stuff" over and over again... It's important to be aware of your errors, so you can keep improving them.

Knowing this and implementing it, how could you not be successful? You just have to choose the right thing to practice, which will give you most success in the future... (I would focus on things like sales skills, deal-making skills, writing skills, and so on... Others may focus on tennis and golf - though it probably helps to start practicing as a kid with those things...!)

Best wishes,
