This is a fascinating story...

A car has been produced - mostly by 3D printing! The plan is to drive it across the USA (New York to San Francisco), and back...

The 3D printing future looks bright... 3D printers have already come down in price quite a lot, and are expected to come down in price even further, with improving quality...

I attended a manufacturing trade show earlier this year, where I saw a lot of 3D printers. 3D printing can be done with many types of materials (including metals), and at different levels of quality. (Of course, the more you want to do, the more expensive the 3D printer will be...)

By the way, I was talking with an entrepreneurial acquaintance the other day, who said something interesting (and important!).

He was of the opinion that, just like learning HTML was a useful skill to know in the 1990s/2000s, in the near future, knowing how to work CAD software (CAD = computer-aided design) will be a very useful skill to know in the future. Why?

It's because anything which is 3D-printed has to first be designed using CAD software... As 3D printing explodes, the demand for CAD skills will increase...
