Great idea Don, when you mentioned it earlier for other services,
I thought about doing it. In fact I did contact a few, but I went
slowly since I do not want my facebook account banned. But it is
certainly worth looking into.
Would it be banned? Is it "spam"?
I found a web page which says that "spam" is when a message is both unsolicited and sent in bulk (https://www.spamhaus.org/consumer/definition/)...
I think Don's talking about sending individual messages (i.e. not in bulk)... I envisioned he wasn't talking about sending too many messages (after all, you're only wanting to contact local businesses of a certain type)...
Anyway, that's how it looks to me, as a non-expert... I tried to find examples of any mention of Facebook banning people for doing what Don is talking about, and I couldn't find any through a few quick searches (but feel free to correct me)...
