Anyone using Canned Response in Gmail?

I'm testing and playing with this Gmail feature, wondering if anyone has been using it for any sort of autoresponder type stuff.

Thanks,

Gordon Alexander

Thanks Phil,

I love that HOTSHEET. I'd like to add a little "monetization" to it. I got two tips from your posts I'm going to test today.

Love the FILTERS along with Canned
Response. Test, test and test some more.

HOTSHEETS are nifty ways to get information out there, much better than the site, with the same info, but all words and boring looking.

Phil, you DA Man.

Hi Gordon,

There was a course from the AppSumo Founder where he had a unique hiring process.

He basically used the Gmail auto-responder to sift and sort through applicants. His process involved a bout 4 stages BEFORE they actually got to speak with him live.

This helped to whittle away those who could not...or would not follow simple directions.

The process was BRILLIANT IMHO.

If you're interested I can dig through my files to get you more details on the process. Let me know.

I have personally not utilized this process...Yet.

Cheers

Duane

Hi Duane,

I'd definitely be interested in hearing more details about this... It sounds like a great idea when hiring (at least for certain jobs)!

Best wishes, :)

Hi Dien,

Thanks for asking. The course I was referring to is this one. (note: not my affiliate link. Just the way I copied it from my email account)

http://www.appsumo.com/appsumo-hiring-secrets/?rf=emmd

The Basic Process was very Brilliant and designed to:

1. Weed out the people that can't follow instructions. Early on in the process.

2. Save the founder a LOT of Time.

The 4 Basic Phases each contained a Call to Action "Barrier"

Phase #1. A Job Posting

- A fun conversational type job ad describing a day in the life of the role
- Call To Action Barrier was for them to email their LinkedIn and Facebook profile information along with their resumes

* He stated that 90% of respondents didn't do this

Phase #2. A Canned Email Response

- He used Gmail Filters + "Canned Response" to sort and Reply back to respondents

- Filtered messages:

Those messages containing words Facebook and Linked in were filtered like this 1) Skip Inbox 2)Mark as read 3) Apply Label "Job Respondents- Office position 4) Send Canned Response

Messages without these words were just sent to his deleted. He did NOT waste time.

- This Canned Response also contained another "Call to Action Barrier"
which was that he gave a work scenario and asked them how they would handle it.

He then set up a Google form for them to fill in with their answers. They proceeded onto steps 3 and 4 below.

Phase #3. A Google Form

Phase #4. A Personal Interview email

In the Interest of not going beyond the scope of this thread and giving away the entire course. I'll stop there just to keep it on the topic of "Canned Responses"

Here's a brief video tutorial I found of how to set this up (Filtering + Canned Responses).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLG6T...eature=related

Hope that provides a little more detail Dien.

I would highly recommend the course to hear about his mindset and to get actual emails and wording he used. The part on using the Google forms was really good too.

Feel free to email me privately Dien if you have any further questions ;)

Cheers

Duane
