Default E-Books

I just received a notice from Barnes and Noble Online about E-Book options they offer. Interesting stuff. This looks like it's picking up momentum.

Just go to www.bn.com and click the E-Book tab at top of page.
Best wishes,

Default E-book predictions....

My prediction is websites will
have ebook libraries because of
broadband capabilities and the
reduction in price of ebook readers.

It's likely offline bookstores will have
computers for customers to read the
ebook version before placing orders.

Any other predictions regarding ebooks?

Default Here's an ebook prediction for the nearby future....

Hi Sandy,

You had some great thoughts to share! They *did* make me think of some more "predictions".... :)

Sandy I'm looking forward to that day (it's coming!) that hand-held ebook readers become high enough quality to be easy on your eyes, as well as being portable.... I have a HUGE book collection, yet I also like to travel, and it's a dilemma.

My problem is I can't take my book collection with me. The potential solution to this dilemma that ebooks promise is one of the things that excites me! Though I also like the INSTANT download nature of ebooks too.... :)

You also wrote some more interesting ideas below.... :)

> It's likely offline bookstores will have

That's an interesting idea.... I hadn't thought of that. And I also thought of another prediction, Sandy.... :)

> Any other predictions regarding ebooks?

I believe that ebooks as a medium will bloom and blossom.... Here's one reason why.

Ebooks are in many ways more flexible. I think we'll see more multimedia incorporation into ebooks.

Ebooks may have little movies and audio files embedded within them. We've already seen a version of this with software-based encyclopedias like Encarta.... I think this will become more common in non-fiction ebooks, where they will enhance the text....

Thanks Sandy, your posts always make me think! I really appreciate that.... :)

Cheers,

Dien

Default And that brings up a ??

Hi Dien!

That brings up a question: can ebooks be read on Palm Pilots? I don't have one *YET* but I actually have a reader who copies my "Discovering" onto his Palm Pilot so he can re-read the articles on the go. I thought he was kidding, so I asked him (we were on ICQ) which one is your favorite to read? And he told me it was an oldie-but-goodie....

Surprise me BIG time!

Anyway, if ezines can be read on Palm Pilots, can ebooks be read on them?

Ever curious,

JULIE

Julie -

Absolutely! Check out Peanut Press for lots of Palm Pilot ebook titles. I just downloaded one last week for $12 on handling stress. I think the URL is www.peanutpress.com.

Take care, Bob
