Thanks to our reader in Japan for the heads up.

I've got to get back in my childhood and look for the gold.

PS A "template" crowd fund raising product, hard to find a better executed fund me type project, and having a little spot on the news certainly helped. Great idea, and one can see how there could be thousands of discs to buy in the near future.

ALSO, if there is anyone, ANYONE, out there doing more research and discovery than Dien, myself and you guys, I'd like to know who they are, OK? With Dien's revival of his hidden business ideas and our research via you and my Update Hotline, well, I think we're doing a pretty good job and always welcome your tips, be they public or private.

Lots of great opportunity, not enough time.
Hi Gordon,

My "Hidden Business Ideas" are coming back... Though possibly under a new name, and with a new format...

I've got a ton of articles to write (I've been busy researching)...

Meanwhile, I loved the Viewmaster when I was a kid! Those 3D images of places I hadn't been to, or of scenes I hadn't yet seen...

By the way, I have a friend who still has a Viewmaster. It still has a "cult" following!

(This particular friend is really into any kind of 3D images... He also has a 3D television, which you have to watch with special glasses to see the 3D images... And he's a member of a 3D photography club.)

I think it is unfortunate the new Viewmaster-like projector is not 3D, though. It's hard to do 3D projection, though not impossible (as 3D movies prove). Usually you need a special type of screen to project the image on - any old screen won't do.

The reason why you need a special screen (I knew my physics would come in handy!) is because the 3D projections nowadays use something called circularly polarized light, and the screens they project on to have to preserve the polarization of the light for the 3D image to work. Most materials don't preserve the circular polarization of the light when it reflects from the material...

The 3D projector projects two images - one image for the right eye, in (say) right circularly polarized light, and one image for the left eye, in (say) left circularly polarized light. When the image is projected on the screen, and the light is reflected toward you, the circular polarization is preserved. You then wear special glasses so that the left lens, for example, blocks the right circularly polarized light, and only passes the left circularly polarized light, so your left eye only sees the image designed for your left eye. It's a similar process (but the opposite) for the right glasses lens.

That's why you need a special screen for it to work, because it needs to preserve the polarization... Unfortunately, you can't project a 3D movie on a "regular" movie screen, or on your living room wall...!

Best wishes!

Dien
