Default Yippee! Yahoo! Cowabunga Dudes & Dudettes!

Pre-emptive disclosure; Even though there are only a handful of viewers on THIS Forum who have ANY interest in "Direct Sales"....and the ONLY reason why I continue to post HERE....is for 2 reasons;

1) I've BEEN posting here since this Forum started...so I've sortof gotten "used to it"

2) I live in a small town and I truly enjoy SHARING my successes with other "humans"....who....even though they may NOT have an interest in MY stuff... it's a way for US "extroverts" to "UnLoad" after a success....and MAYBE someone, somewhere (just ONE person) who can "pick up on the EMOTION EXPOUNDED" and "be motivated by hearing about MY success".

Anyway....a few weeks ago I "sold" a Pizza Guy" on trying my "Motel Room" program for 90 days. I "Guaranteed" him an average of EIGHT Pizzas a Day from motels where he was, at the time, doing ZERO, NADA, ZILCH...because of 2 things;
1) He was the "new guy" in town
and
2) The other "BIG Name" pizza operations had been "entrenched" in these motels for the last couple of years.

When I installed me "TV Stands"....I asked him to "keep tract" of his "Delivery Orders" at the motels he was in.

So...this afternoon he called me on my cell and asked me to "Stop By".

I "stopped by about an hour ago" and...not knowing WHAT to expect...
I entered his store "with my chin UP" (I'm a POSITIVE guy!...expecting GOOD things at ALL TIMES) Well...I see my client in the kitchen...he motions me to come back into his tiny office. When I get there he holds up some sheets of paper for me to see. I have to reach for my glasses to see what's on the paper....before I get my glasses on he starts yelling at me;
"LOOK! At THIS!

Again....I'm a "positive guy"....but the way he yelled at me...started causing me some "concern". I finally adjust my glasses and when I saw what he's "yelling" at me about....is his EXCITEMENT.....NOT his "anger"!

There....on the pages of "Nightly Orders" are a LOT of orders from the motels I placed HIS Ads for HIS Pizzas.....to the tune of an "average" of 12 Pizzas a Night (from one motel) to....8 Pizzas a night from the other.....20 Pizzas a Night at an "average" ticket of $15. Meaning....my "little Ad Venture" which I "talked him into"....was now earning him an EXTRA GROSS OF $300 Samoleans a night!

$9,000 A Month, EXTRA... in the SLOOW, supposedly "dead" time of year.... and....from motels where he had previously gotten ZERO, NADA...ZILCH business from.

And...to show his "appreciation"
1) he "stuffed' some bux into my shirt pocket
and
2) told me he had contacted 2 of his buddies in similar pizza biznesses in other towns and "they were waiting for me to see them".

So...it's REALLY NICE when us "salesguys" find a project that REALLY WORKS, where our clients are REALLY HAPPY with what we "sold" them.

Makes it ALL...."worthwhile".

And....again....thanks for letting me "Share" one of my successes.

My "Midas Report"

So...it is NICE to

Way to go, Don! Good show!

As one who has been a salesperson and sales trainer, in one form or another, for many years, I KNOW just how big a coup that is. Congrats...now, go do it again, and again....)

I wonder if their daily gross went up by $300 of if you are just tracking the supposed sales that you say you connected him with.

With this I will talk about opportubity cost again........

I have seen all photos of this program that you have had displayed including each one pictured when the link was active for the program you wanted to sell for $1,400 from you donalm.com site.

Back to opportunity cost.......
I wonder how much in sales it cost the pizza joint while the had to sit on the phone and go over the menu with the hotel guest.

The pizza joint is one of the clients in the program you would need to keep happy. Wouldn't it be best to make their sales function flow as fast as possible so they can get off the phone and take another order that they would have had anyway?
Your program needs to make their order taking go as quickly as it ussually does or your program could end up costing them $ even though you are bringing business.

Might I suggest, and remember I have seen your photos for the program you claim to operate, and remember who told you and where you read this!!!!!
Jusk kidding!

Here it is........
Why not offer options for the hotel guest ordering such as,
Medium 2 topping for $xx.xx
large 2 topping for $xx.xx
XX-large 2 topping for $xx.xx

This could be printed directly on the card that you claim to have in the rooms and will certainly speed up the ordering time for the pizza joint enableing them to answer more money making phone calls instead of talking to the customer you bring them and explaining the menu to them.

Man will all of your "which pitch" talk, I am shocked you don't already do something like this for your client.

Don,

Outstanding strategy. New guy in town not getting business from motel/hotel clientel. So you help him get his feet wet, with your 90 day trial offer.

Program works so well, that he is sending you to others to introduce your program to them. I bet now you could easily incorporate a pizza program similiar to what Jason mentions above.

That way your new client could track which pizza's sell more. As time goes by you could find tune the program so that only his best sellers are listed on your motel card. That way he is eliminating the foods that are dead sellers from his advertising.

BTW Jason, before Don could do as you suggested, which is a great idea, he first had to woo the client to try something he had never done before. It allowed Don's program to run it's course, which proved to be quite a success.

Now that Don's program has proven itself to the new business owner, he will call on Don more often. As James said in an earlier post, it's about building relationships. Don has once again succeeded in doing this.

Take a step back and look at the situation for a moment........
Do you think that there is a pizza joint in town that would not LOVE to be listed in every hotel room in there delivery area?

By stating this I am suggesting that it is not the pizza dude that needs the wooing.

It is the hotel that needs to o.k. this program.

Try it for yourself, I bet you can talk to 10 pizza joints and at least 9 of the 10 will tell you "Heck yeah!"

No fancy talk, just simply ask them " Hey, would you like your phone number, logo, and photo of your pizza listed in 100 hotel rooms in your delivery area?"

What do you think that they will say to that simple question Woody?

Similar question to the hotel and what do you think that they will say?

I know that this can work, however it isn't by going to the the hotel and pushing your way in and assuming the sale as their hands are often tied by other contracts or restrictions imposed by the franchise.

Instead of bashing Dons ideas, like I am accused of doing,
lets make this a positive thing and collectively contribute and see how to improve on what he brings and make a real market for them!
What do ya say?

Default jason....good ideas ...and

Having contacted several of the nationa chains...like the MOTel 6 Don has on his display ...I have found that the lobby is full of advertising...and the motel owners are not very interested in additional 'stuff' to maintain...

thinking that , like you , the market is there for the rest. owners..and it is the motels that need the wooing..

one guy told me that the company who maintained the display for the brochures pays HIM every year...for the space...

me too on the additional inputs...

thanks
bob
