Default fyi...philippine typhoon help ..

thought I might post this in case anyone wants to help out ...I always donate to the Salvation Army, not as a religion , as an administrator of funds ...they spend like 95% of donations on the actual victims...
anyway , here is the contact info ...
Donations by check (designate “Typhoon Haiyan”) can be mailed to:
Salvation Army World Service Office
International Relief Fund
P.O. Box 418558
Boston, MA 02241-8558

Text to give:

Text TYPHOON to 80888 and reply YES to confirm your $10 donation.

Hi, Bob - Salvation Army's a great idea; I decided to donate to

http://www.redcross.org.ph/donate

which is the Red Cross organisation in the Philippines - obviously there's going to be a huge effort to get these folks fed and sheltered and I thought money going to a local aid organisation would let them do a little relief work immediately.

There are probably going to be many fundraisers in the UK as well to help get supplies quickly to the disaster area.

thanks for the additional info ! had it in my head that the Salvation Army is the most efficient at delivering the donations directly to the individual..and they dont have high admin costs like the Red Cross...

I dont understand why these groups dont just fill airplanes with products such as food and bottled water, fly over the area and drop them out for the people in need...and do it so often that there would be no need to fight over the goods.

hope all is well with everyone !
