Default Business in the Summer of 2021.

Marie Kondo that stuff...

Harvey Brody that stuff...

KISS it.

All part of my NEW (yet very old) Plan of Action for the Summer of 2021.

Simplify, get rid of the slop and mess and Keep It Simple StupidO.

Harvey Brody's slop and mess was found in his annoying employees, so he got rid of them via attrition. Eliminating as much people contact as I can and still have a decent ROI on my time investment.

My slop and mess has been found in my email folders, where it has eaten up too much of my time, and although I encouraged contact via email, it is getting scaled WAY back this summer. Also have signed out of a few forums and Facebook groups, just nothing there for me at this point.

I've always liked SIMPLE ideas, like DO SOMETHING/get paid now.

Like selling flowers door to door as in SPIDERS, SNAKES AND MICE.

Or seeds, cards, even jewelry and household items. It may still be the fastest way to put cash in your pocket, ALTHOUGH, it can get messy if one allows it too.

Today, as I'm talking to local businesses who are trying to RECOVER from the pandemic fueled depression of the past year, I find they are getting ANNOYED with sales people, even in their email folders.

In town currently, we have some people offering SMS, Texting, SEO, YELP and reviews still some selling ads in monthly pubs, coupon connections, etc.

Reminds me of the early 90's when there were so many advertising sales people it would make a head spin.

I always liked the idea of walking in with something (like a sign Open/Closed) and walking out with cash. Simple. Buy it or don't. The more you see the more you make. The objective is/was to find those products and services which did not require a lot of selling, but could be offered with a shrug of indifference as to whether they buy or not.

Anyhow, the PROMISE of 1994 was an International audience, buying digital products, with automated systems. We've gone over the top of the roller coaster with that one.

Bud Riggs, THE BOZ, had it right too. Work when you want, set up where there is traffic which needs your service, let them know and shrug off the people who don't buy. I do love the Headlight Cleaning business as he perfected it. Simple, easy, CASH in hand, do it and be done with it.

Using that model for my Summer "job". Here is what I offer, take it or leave it, if you get it, thanks and move on. Difference is that THE BOZ was mostly a one off guy, do a headlight and it won't need a cleaning for a year.

But with local businesses, a recurring job can be set in motion with the same take it or leave it offer.

Over the years, I developed a pretty strong attitude about whether you want in or not on MY projects. Thinking back to that Don Alm menu board which I had success with; I simply told the guy:

To an insurance guy: If you don't want on, then Jim at State Farm or Bob at Farmers or one of the other 101 guys in the area will take the slot.

I really didn't care, which not only gave me armor against any attacks to "selling" in general, but also was a great closer too.

Anyhow, my busy APRIL has been successful, and now I want to make MAY my MARKET MY DEAL month...and let it coast through the Summer....

...sans clutter, slop and mess, caring, and with limited TIME spent on it.

Hope you have your Summer all planned out too.

Gordon Alexander

P.S. When was the last time you did a personal AUDIT of your time and your business? Do you even know how much time you spend online and what you do with that time?

Do you know how long it takes to get a customer (and the cost) and then time to maintain and grow your biz?

I hope so.

Are you doing what you want to do, where you want to do it, surrounded by the people you want to be around every day?

If so, good for you. If not...when are you going to Marie Kondo/Harvey Brody your life and business? Next year?

Hi Gordon,

I'm currently reading through a controversial book... (For readers offended by controversy - now is the time to shut your eyes tight...)

It's called "The Art of Manipulation" by RB Sparkman, written in 1978.

The author spent time (intentionally) sharing his place in Houston in the 1970s with various con artists.

Even though he knew what they were, they still managed to con him out of thousands of dollars (and that's in 1970s money)!

That's right - he invited people to stay at his place, who he knew were probably going to end up conning him...

Foolish? Or genius?

What happened was... he learned a thing or two, and wrote a book about it...

I am against con artists, but... I do think you can learn things from everyone, even them...

The main difference between an entrepreneur and a con-man, in my opinion, is that an entrepreneur delivers on his promises, while the con artist doesn't.

Anyway...

RB Sparkman's "Tactic 4" is... "I don't need you. You need me."

As soon as you seem "desperate," it repels people... I think we've all experienced that!

But (according to Sparkman), if you can convince people you really don't need their business... they're more interested, maybe even desperate, to give it to you...

In romance... Who gets the girls (from a man's point of view)?

It's usually the cool cat, who acts like he doesn't need them, and doesn't care...

Not the fellow desperate to get laid...

The cool "I-don't-give-a-crap" tough guy is pretty much the character Elvis Presley played in all his movies... And girls loved it!

(I used to try to emulate movie-Elvis's attitude when I was in high school! It kind of worked... )

Maybe this got you "All Shook Up!"

Best wishes,

Dien

Default Generation Hustle on HBOMax is one of many

TV shows about con "artists" are very popular now, right up there with murder mysteries. A weekend of bingeing gives one a pretty good education on the art of the con.

Con men. Short for CONFIDENCE men. It is the one thing they all have in common. Man, woman, or child (as in 12 year old walking on earth Gods), believe in themselves.

Maybe a side "affect" of narcissistic personalities, or something on the sociopath yellow brick road.

We have often mentioned Blair Warren, who has a really good introductory course into the black arts of persuasion; FORBIDDEN KEYS TO PERSUASION.

Con persons (lets include the ladies, a ME TOO subset), are for the most part Natural people readers, although, they don't so much as cold read as cold project. It is about THEM, hardly ever about you.

Which is a part of the reason why the brush off can be effective.

I think there are very FEW learned con artists, those who have studied the persuasive arts and sciences seldom go down that path, they don't need to.

Also, controversy is an integral part of gaining our attention, almost all of media is built upon it. IF IT BLEEDS IT LEDES has been the media mantra since Hearst, et al, set up shop.

Thanks Dien for the share, I'll put this on my reading list.

And I think you are right, DELIVER the goods may be the difference between a really good salesperson/persuader and a confidence artist.

Maybe most are confidence journeyman, haven't reached the artist stage yet.

Gordon

PS A new TV show, The CON ARTIST APPRENTICE. Just a rumor, but....

Hello. What you described is similar to freelancing. You know this is an opportunity to work for yourself and immediately get paid for it. It is very popular now.

Default How To Make Money With The MASTERMIND Principle

Thanks Dien/Gordon,

A Question:

How Many Sowpub readers Want To Buy a Book
About Making Moolah with the Mastermind Concept?

"THINK & GROW RICH" Never Explains How. Napoleon Hill Tells More in His "Law of Success" Course. But There are Zero Step By Step Examples.

I - You Can Mastermind (More Dinero) by Phoning 1 to 20 People.

II - You Can Mastermind (Extra Moolah) By Text or Email or Zoom.

III - You Can Mastermind (For Profit) with Mentors without TALKING to them at all.

IF There is INTEREST - I'll Create The Mp3 Book.

IF NOT.

ONLY Private Clients Get It.

I disagree that due to the pandemic and quarantine, businesses have stopped developing. But of course, it all depends on what services you provide. Everyone switched to online purchasing rather than going to the store. And now imagine what kind of room appeared at the sites. Of course, if the core is correctly configured. I have only increased my attendance with the quarantine. Plus, I ordered the agency's CEO services on time. There was even a time when I did not have enough order deliverers, and I had to deliver orders myself, as it was difficult to find a deliverer. But I am sure that everything turned out because I ordered SEO optimization. I will leave a link to the guys I work with as I do not regret that I contacted(https://www.danielfoley.co.uk/)

Hi Glenn,

I can't speak for anyone else, but I know that I'm definitely interested in the Mastermind book...

There's no doubt that the Mastermind is a powerful concept. (We're benefiting from it here!)

But... I think there are so many aspects of it that I still don't fully know how to use properly...

I know it's very, very powerful, though, and I would love to hear your insights on it - without a doubt!

Just thought I'd put that out there...

Thanks Glenn.

Best wishes,

Dien

P.S. Those chapters (in your Medium article) sound positively mouth-watering!
