Incredibly cheap new way to test ad copy inadvertently discovered
I want to share an eye-opening discovery
from my foray into using Google's new pay-per-click Adwords program. This was not my intention, but I've now discovered what must be the fastest, cheapest way to test ad copy. I placed the following ad, hoping to increase orders for my special report on selling booklets and reports: Booklets/Special Reports Turn content into money with our complete up-to-the-minute guide! www.yudkin.com/bookletsreports.htm For the keyword "booklets," the click-through rate for this ad turned out to be below the acceptable threshold for this ad program, and they automatically deleted my ad from showing to that keyword. I then changed the copy to the following: Booklets/Special Reports Make money from content with our complete up-to-the-minute guide! www.yudkin.com/bookletsreports.htm The click-through rate multiplied almost five times (from .03% to 1.4%), just from changing "Turn content into money" to "Make money from content"! To me, this says, keep your wording simple and obvious. And would you believe how much this test cost me -- so far, a grand total of $5.72! Marcia Yudkin Make money from content... details here |
