Boyd -Do the Math, Please

In a previous tread discussing Mini sites, Boyd mentioned adult sites as sites which use creative means to generate customers. Sadly Boyd stopped just as the post was getting interesting.
It seems to me that when new media comes into existence (eg. CD-Rom, Videocassettes,now Internet)producers of adult materials are always some of the first to use it profitably.
So Boyd just how do they work and what lessons can we all learn from these sites and the way they do business? Feel free to email me privately if this topic is too "adult" - hehe
