![]() The "Nation's Christmas Tree"...a 70ft Douglas Fir, adorned with over 10,000 lights and 6,000 handmade ornaments from Oregon people....is now sitting in front of the Capitol Building in Wash, DC.
At 5pm Eastern time....Dennis Hastert (Speaker of the House) will press the button to light the "Nation's Christmas Tree". THAT Tree grew up and was chopped down...6 miles from my home in the Umpqua National Forest. It took 22 days to travel 3200 miles. It stopped in 58 towns and cities along the way. This has been a 1 1/2 year of excitement for us folks in these here parts. We are VERY PROUD of having been chosen to provide the Nation's Tree. Last Tuesday eve...my friend Delores (owner of a restaurant in Roseburg) was in charge of a FEAST for 700 people from Oregon and included some politicos and dignitaries in a huge dining room in the Capitol. The highlight of her career. The tree was in our Veteran's Day Parade and it was an awesome experience to see it. We also shipped 56 smaller trees for congressional offices. Sure was a great experience to be involved with this project. When you see the Nation's Tree in front of the Capitol....think of OREGON. Don Alm....Roseburg, Oregon |
