![]() You are absolutely correct Gordon, and the nice thing about working with the internet it means one can work anywhere....
I am a single parent of 2 little ones, 10 and 12, and my office is smack dab in the living room...to my left is the dining room table where they do their homework (easy access to control any disputes and also answer questions of help) and when homework is done then on the right of me is the entertainment area where they spend much time. The interaction is always present because we are all in the same area....mind you work from the time school gets out until they are tucked safely in bed is rather broken, but it works well for us. Today I had a very important meeting with potential clients from New York City and Nigeria...where else...you guessed it ..right in the living room...5 feet from the main computer. The clients loved it. Made themselves at home with coffee and put their feet up and we carried out our business....successfully I might add. It would have been a much harder negotiation me thinks if it had been in an office atmosphere somewhere. When the kids came home from school they entered quietly, introduced themselves, then knowing business was being conducted they got their snacks, and disappeared quietly to another area of the house until the meeting was done. Kids and business....you bet...wouldn't change it for a billion dollars....and this is the second family I've raised :o) Cornell |
