Any Ideas for Earning Money back home while doing long-term travel?

Hi all, I was looking for ideas on how to earn money ($1000/month) from my home country (USA) while I did long-term travel. I know IT/TEFL are usually the big ones but what are some other ideas?

EXAMPLE: Let's say I wanted to live/travel long term to Guatemala or Thailand. I could live comfortably on $1000/month. There has to be a way to earn money while away, have it deposited into my bank or Paypal. What ideas are there for this sort of thing?

Obviously, it doesn't have to make a huge amount of money compared to 1st world standards. What are your thoughts, are there threads that cover this?
