![]() There's an Andy Warhol sketch called "Fairies" which sold in 2016 for $8,125.
Apparently, it's now valued at $20,000. Cool, that's a potential profit of $11,875 ! ![]() But... an art collective has taken the sketch, and made 999 forged copies... The forgeries are made by machine, on artificially aged paper to match the original sketch... Then, they are selling the original, and the 999 forgeries, for $250 each... The original will be randomly mixed in. So, out of the 1,000 buyers, 999 will get a forgery, and one lucky random buyer will get the original... When you do the math - that means they're going to take in not $20,000 - but $250,000 ... What a scheme! Apparently, all 1,000 have sold out... 1,000 Andy Warhol sketches will be sold for $250 each. The catch? 999 are forgeries. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...al/8542832002/ Group 'Destroys' $20K Warhol Sketch by Hiding It Amid Fakes https://www.newser.com/story/312626/...s-a-catch.html Best wishes, Dien
