Moving up in the world

As I was looking for a "fulfilment shop" I came across this merchant account
provider.

They have some steep activation fees (some gateway software etc. etc. $295)
The problem I have is that if I add up all the fees and charges I am giving up
a lot.)
However I started to think of the advantages of a merchant account and it is deffinitely the perception and stigma with paypal, click bank and Internet.
I want to sell off-line! I am very firm in this oppinion. I can make my CD courses for next to nothing. I can make audio tapes. I can sell them for 50-150
dollars - it makes a lot of sense to advertise mail order and offer these off-line. If I do that I MUST HAVE A MERCHANT ACCOUNT.
Am I off-base here? Anyone can lend a hand in my clouded thinking?
