![]() Ken,
quite often marketers will price their products according to what *they* would pay or according to what *they* can afford. I have seen this and know it is a mistake. You have to test and there are numerous ways of doing this testing. Some of the ways I have tested have been through surveys or questionnaires, in which I will give the participant something of value in order for them to take the survey. That something of value could be a free six month subscription with some phone consultation or a report, etc. For instance, I have an online newsletter that costs 21.97 monthly. It deals with getting massive muscles and strength, etc. Initially, I thought, I would charge $9.97 monthly for a subscription. But after further investigation and research I learned that this was way too low, but I didn't know what to charge. Then I asked myself, what would I pay. Hell, I would pay 200.00 per month to gain the size I have now. How many people can afford a 200.00 monthly subscription? This was not a scientific way to determine the price at which the largest part of my target market would pay so, I did some testing using surveys, questionnaires and different price points on different web pages. I put up a couple different websites and got them listed in the search engines too, especially goto.com under very specific keywords. Nothing changed on the site except the price. I also used paid and free classified ads on the Net to test. The results came back that the current price out pulled any other price. You must test everything and then test everything again. So, in essence what I did was to test different prices to see which one was the optimum price my target market was willing to pay me for my information and for the result they wanted to receive. YOu don't have to put up totally different sites either, different pages/urls will accomplish the same thing for you. I hope this helps and Gordon if I missed anything please help me out as you have done in the past. Taylor > Hi Taylor, > What should Ken be testing? Where?
