![]() We're lucky that we have very knowledgeable and talented people visiting us here during the pre-launch state of the SOWPUB forum.
As you can tell by the name, Seeds of Wisdom Publishing is largely about publishing non-fiction ebooks. We want to work on a win/win/win philosophy, as Gordon teaches in BYBA - you win, I win, and the readers win. With this in mind I'm seeking authors who would like to make their online ebooks available for purchase through the SOWPUB web site. There are going to be two options - an exclusive deal with SOWPUB, and a non-exclusive deal. Here are the details of the deal I'm thinking of offering.... How does this sound, and how can I improve it? Exclusive Option The exclusive option will pay you a high royalty - I'm thinking of offering 70% of the retail price for your ebook. In addition to that, your ebook will have a prominent place here at the SOWPUB web site. I'm also thinking of maybe also sending out a press-release for your ebook with this option.... This will give you high-profile promotion on what we expect will be a high-traffic web site, which will also be advertised in print media and through press releases. In return, you agree that SOWPUB will be the exclusive online publisher of your work for an agreed upon length of time. (You will still hold the rights to off-line methods of publishing, and you will still hold the copyright to your own work.) In addition to the above promotional advantages, if you choose the exclusive deal I will also help you with creating your ebook, in giving feedback, and also by creating a PDF version of your ebook for purchase (if you'd like me to). I can also help with choosing cover art for your ebook (this will be from the access I have to commercial photos and clip-art). Non-exclusive Option The second option is the non-exclusive deal. With this, I'm thinking of paying a 50% royalty. However, prime positioning on the web site won't be guaranteed. On the other hand, you will be free to also sell your books from other web sites. At present, I only intend to deal with PDF versions of non-fiction ebooks, since PDF files can be read on a wide variety of computer systems, and also offer some attractive security options. Each type of non-fiction also often has a built-in audience which is possible to access (through advertising and press releases). I'm interested in knowing how can I improve this offer? Do you think the royalties I'm thinking of offering are fair? None of this is carved in stone, so I'm looking for feedback... :) Thanks, Dien Rice |
