![]() Back in my submarine days, we drilled relentlessly and when in port, we regularly went through fire and flooding schools. On Ford Island in Pearl Harbor there was an escape tower, a submarine compartment which could be flooded, and a building they colud set on fire.
I lost my best high school friend, Carl Stevens to a fire in Oakland, CA in 1985. I trained my family to "run like hell" and we practiced getting out of the house. There are times in business, perhaps critical times, where you have to throw the MAP down and run like hell. Just as I believe a well thought out plan and focused continuous action will take you to your destination of choice...I also think there are times you need to FIRE AIM READY. TARGET Best if not done while in desperation, but you might be in that state of mind. The best time to FART is when an unknown OPPORTUNITY presents itself. Sometimes that is first in. Sometimes that is New tech. OR New Product, Old Product/New Markets. Or 101 other reasons to run like hell and go as fast as you can... but in the meantime, I'm going to continue preaching PLANNING and Map Making and persistence. IF we spot a great opportunity, one which requires fast action, then I'll post up an ALERT. .j |
