Folks can end up getting bitten when bartering things simply because, if the gov gets wind of it, a lot of things are taxable even tho' it's a swap. Best be up to date on the regulations and know what you're doing so it doesn't end up costing you new price for used stuff or more than you could buy it at retail for out of a store (and in a lot of cases without paying tax on it). Just an FYI.

A Cleveland pawn shop owner says his normal month is about 50,000 in business, but is is running at about 80,000 a month now, and going up and up and up.

The pawn shop is the Chatteler's secret "index", sort of like a poor man's S & P 500, and people are PAWNING (or in my mind, giving away their stuff) everything they can think of.

Thanks Phil for pointing out some new tech in the game of Chatteling, which includes trading too.

Craigslist is still a prime source of great "buy there, sell here" deals and more and more on hitting the market daily.

It is a great time for people to "fly low and collect the dough" by exchanging chattel, either for cash or for other chattel (or services).
