Thinking of an idea to get clients via this route.

I've never used BNI, but...

I'm not sure how similar it is, but I've used Meetup.com (a few years ago) as a successful way to market to people. At that time, I organized a commercial film screening, and got people to come by starting my own Meetup.com group...

Having said that, many people won't want to meet face-to-face in the coming days. Facebook groups could be another good way to gather people virtually, for a similar purpose...
