![]() Happy Weekend Everyone!
I spoke with my dear-just-like-a-sister friend, our own Amber Sorenson this afternoon. Like I told her, I did not want to make a public introduction of my newest family member without telling her about him first.... And there is your first hint! I am proud to introduce my son to all of you! Samuel Robert Jordan Scott was born on May 6, 2001 at 7:25 pm Pacific time. He was 8 lbs, 12 Oz and 20 inches long. Little Sam beat the doctor to the delivery room! He has lots of brown, curly hair and blue eyes. He has large hands and feet and at the current time alternates between looking very contemplative or "talking" a lot. (His pediatrician said, "I have not had such a talkative newborn in a LONG time!" Now WHERE could he have gotten THAT from!) Thank you all for being the sort of community where I can feel welcome to share ALL the joys in my life, be it business successes, personal growth experiences, pumpkin and Apple recipes or new babies joining my family. With Purpose and Passion, JULIE JORDAN SCOTT |

![]() Thanks for your note, Rick!
I think I could learn a lot about raising sons from you and your wife. I *know* how to mother girls, I suppose thats why God decided to bless me with a son this time! :-) JULIE |

> I think I could learn a lot about raising > sons from you and your wife. I *know* how to > mother girls, I suppose thats why God > decided to bless me with a son this time! Thanks for the nice compliment. I suppose that we do what a lot people today won't do. We expect certain things of them and when they don't meet the expectations, there are consequences. When they meet or exceed the expectations, there are also consequences, (which they usually enjoy *much* more *g*). Simple example. My 3rd son Christopher, who's a good kid, is a freshman in high school this year. He's always been an achiever at school getting into gifted classes, etc. But for some reason this year he has decided that grades are no longer important, that he doesn't care, and that everyone else, (other than himself), is responsible. So, when the grades continued to go down, we took away every privilege imaginable. As they slowly came back up, (we get a weekly report card from the school), he slowly earns privileges back. When he blew it again, he lost all the privileges again. Problem is, I'm not sure he thinks we're serious. We've already told him that if the grades aren't at a certain level by the end of the school year, he'll be waiting until after the first report card next fall to get his learner's permit. So. The point is there are multiple lessons here. 1. Grades *are* important if for no other reason than to get to drive. (We all know there are many more reasons, of course.) 2. More importantly, he is in control of his own destiny. IOW, he is largely responsible for when he'll start learning to drive. And this is the lesson I want him to learn more than the reward value of the grades. Rick Smith, "The Net Guerrilla" Who Else Wants to Grab At Least $1000 A Day From Their Homebased Business? |

![]() Hi Julie,
Wow, this is fantastic news.... :) > I spoke with my dear-just-like-a-sister > friend, our own Amber Sorenson this > afternoon. Wow, that sounds like a good sign to me! He's not afraid of public speaking, and he's a deep thinker too.... Sounds like a recipe for success! :) > (His pediatrician > said, "I have not had such a talkative > newborn in a LONG time!" Now WHERE > could he have gotten THAT from!) *Smile*.... :) > Thank you all for being the sort of > community where I can feel welcome to share > ALL the joys in my life, be it business > successes, personal growth experiences, > pumpkin and Apple recipes or new babies > joining my family. Thanks Julie, I just wish there were more of you to go around.... :) That's FANTASTIC news! I'm over the moon for you and Sam! :) Dien |

![]() I only wish that the world had MORE warm and wonderful mothers like Julie.
Little Sam is so fortunate. :-) And, it's my feeling that everyone should have the experience of raising a son! :) Julie, thank you so much for the personal call to announce Sam's arrival. I appreciate that so much ...and it was so great to hear your voice. But now, we all want to see his picture. Bring 'em on when Sam is ready to show his little face to the world! Warmly, Amber |

![]() Hi Amber!
Many thanks to you for simply being YOU! It was delightful to finally SPEAK to you *live and in person* yesterday! As I told JDB above, as soon as I get a picture scanned, I will post one. I have not gotten the greatest shots taken as of yet. There are many amusing ones though!! *laughing* JULIE |
