![]() I got recent notice that Jay Abraham is closing down his free ezine. He claims his feedback shows that no enough people are reading the thing and therefore he can't get any sales from it because of the low readership.
Um? Makes you wonder if the great Jay can't make money just how good is this internet thing? He says he will announce a new business model based more on a pay to play model but not just a members only ezine, so we shall see where he goes with it but it makes you wonder if an allstar like Jay says he ain't makin money then we should all be aware. ![]() Hi Garth,
> I got recent notice that Jay Abraham is > closing down his free ezine. He claims his > feedback shows that no enough people are > reading the thing and therefore he can't get > any sales from it because of the low > readership. > Um? Makes you wonder if the great Jay can't > make money just how good is this internet > thing? Hmmm.... I didn't subscribe to Jay Abraham's ezine, so I can't comment on it directly.... However, I know that one ezine which many people actually read is Jim Straw's ezine.... If you subscribe to Jim Straw's ezine, you'll notice its format is different from any other ezine I've seen anyhow. Jim Straw does a lot of questions and answers.... His ezine only comes once a month - it seems to be quality, rather than quantity. And because part of it is in a question and answer format, it is like a little mini-forum.... I wonder how this format would work for others? But the best approach might be to do what Jim Straw does, by TESTING.... His approach to anything seems to be unique, but it is built on a solid foundation of testing and testing.... It's a great foundation to build upon! Uniqueness and originality, backed up by testing, testing, and testing some more, to find out what works for him and his audience.... Dien |

![]() Hi --
Jay didn't say he wasn't making money on the Internet - he said the ezine wasn't pulling enough money to justify the cost of producing it. That is not uncommon. There is a good lesson in there. Notice that he will still have an Internet presence just not a free ezine. Many people who run ezines are starting to feel the pinch as advertising dollars dry up. If you put all your eggs in one basket what do you do when that basket goes away? I'll say that flexibility is the key to making money on or off the net. Knowing what your audience wants is a second key. And realize that what they want today may not be what they wanted yesterday. Flexibility again. So to answer your question: > Um? Makes you wonder if the great Jay can't > make money just how good is this internet > thing? The Internet is fine. It is also a tool and needs to be used with your other tools to produce the result you desire. Here's another lesson - did you purchase anything that Jay offered through his ezine? If not why not? That's where the answers to this whole issue lay. I run a large ezine and the issues Jay talked about are there. How to get around them? That's the fun of it. So to sum it up I don't think Jay Abraham had a failure but rather a test that didn't work out. Have a nice day. -- Dan Butler The Naked PC http://www.TheNakedPC.com |

![]() Dan,
> So to sum it up I don't think Jay Abraham > had a failure but rather a test that didn't > work out. I couldn't agree more. Nobody, even Jay, bats 1000. Hey if you can bat .400 you're in a league all your own! But that still means you strike out 6 times out of 10. I also think we need to learn a lesson here...Jay's ezine was pretty good- some great info there, but I didn't buy anything from it either. When I try to think of why all I can remember is that I read the first paragraph or two, picked up a few tips and then moved on to something else. I never really read far enough into it to get to a sales pitch I guess. In other words, I really didn't take the time to read it... - Dave The ONE Marketing Secret That Could Make You Rich! |

![]() Jay is playing in a field which is already over-saturated.
20 years ago, when he and a few others were the only guy in town, it was a different ball game. But if you do a search under "internet marketing e-zine" you'll realize that there are thousands... possibly more than in any other niche. Or maybe it's just that he's lazy, and an extra 10K a month wasn't worth the pain in the butt of writing the darn thing. I can tell you from personal experience that writing an e-zine can be a VERY profitable venture. -Adam. DiscussionGate: Spam-resistant discussion forum software for your web site! -- Click here... |

![]() Dear Friends,
I can't speak for Jay's ezine, but I can say that one of the main reasons I publish my ezine is to build relationships with my readers. Once the relationships are built and the trust is there, then they are eager to jump on board under me as RQ reps. I do sell products from it, too. But my main reason is relationship-building. And frankly, I find producing it a kick in the pants! :-) Blessings, Brenda The $6 Investment You Can't Afford NOT to Make! |

![]() Is in the words of a Kenny Rogers song:
"Know when to hold'em. Know when to fold'em. Know when to walk away. Know when to run." Jim P.S. -- Jay told his readers he was discontinuing the e-zine; and why, which is far more than most of them do. By & large, they just disappear without a word.
