Listening for Callings.....and a Callings Resource

***This is an excellent point, Gordon, and when I first read THIS thread yesterday I was thinking..."what is the best way to respond...let me process this" as being a Life Purpose Coach so much of my work involves working with people to clarify their purpose. What comes up often is that we are so busy DOING and SEARCHING and PUSHING that we miss the essence of our purpose. People awaken at 80 and say "OHHH! Thats it!"

****Yeah, the title of my first ebook says "AMEN!" to that one..."Don't Let it Take Two Death Threats"...part of my calling is to bring people to that place PRIOR to a crisis.

Finally, one of the most inciteful and beautifully written books on my shelf is entitled "Callings: Finding and Following an Authentic Life" by Gregg Levoy. It is absolutely phenomenal. I highly recommend it. It took me nearly 4 months to read it the first time because I spent a lot of time in contemplation after reading each section.

Check it out, you will NOT be disappointed.

In fact, I am guessing you are tuning in right now...a good indication that is happening is by engaging in this conversation. Bravo for you!

A really cool observation from my extended family. I had a conversation with my 69 year old mother a couple weekends ago. I asked what she wanted to accomplish in her life, what she wanted to do that she had not already done. She is planning it now: a trip to the Yukon that she had planned on taking since childhood with her father (who will be there in Spirit.)

I have carried that with me since, and as I asked my sister the same question she responded..."I'm really doing it. I am teaching, my husband and I made our first music CD. We are living out our dreams."

I thought of my three brothers, who were on that same weekend at Lime Rock, Connecticutt at a car race we used to go to every Memorial Day Weekend as kids. Only now they were driving and building a car which was competing. Two of my brothers make their living working in the auto industry and spend significant time building, supporting and driving race cars. (My third brother does significant funding of these projects...lol.)

And then there is me. You know what I am doing! (IF you need a refresher, stop by my site!)

My Mom raised kids who are fulfilling their dreams, listening to their callings AND RESPONDING.

And now she is responding to another one of hers that she shared with her parents.

What could be more awesome?
