![]() Have you noticed how much nicer people seem to be when they SMILE....
And a smile costs NOTHING to do. Yet the benefits can be great! Try this.... Next time you go to a store to buy something, try smiling when you talk to the sales person! See if you notice any difference in the service you get.... With some people, you'll notice no difference. But at other places, you'll notice people smiling back! And sometimes you may even get more than you asked for! I tried this myself not too long ago.... I went to a take-away food place in a shopping center, and ordered some chicken-finger things (I forgot what they were called - like chicken nuggets but longer).... And when I ordered, I made sure I was smiling! Guess what? I got an extra chicken-finger for free! I didn't even ask for it. I ordered 3 of them, and she popped a 4th one in for free.... Now, I have no proof, but I suspect it was my happy smile that encouraged the lady to be so generous.... She probably felt good seeing me looking happy, and she felt like she wanted to give me something extra.... She may have had a hard day. Maybe the customers were rude to her. And when she sees someone happy, pleasant, and smiling, it helps to perk up her mood too.... She may also have known that it was good business, that I'd be back! I'd been there before, though, and this was the first time they'd given me something for free.... This is not the only positive reaction I've seen.... Sometimes it's enough when you see the other person smiling back at you, and you see a little twinkle in their eye, that you've helped to spark up their day.... It won't happen every time.... But test it out, and see what sort of reactions you get. Many people appreciate it when you smile.... :) Now, let's assume you're on the other side of the counter, the one doing the selling. What happens if you smile? People will be happier to buy from you. You'll probably make more repeat customers! They'll come to your store, and feel good just by seeing you smile.... Now.... You might be saying, "But I don't usually communicate face-to-face, I mostly communicate online!" I *still* think it is good to smile! Here's why. When you smile, you automatically feel a bit happier. And that will show in your online writings! What do you think? Thanks! Dien |
