![]() Gordon,
Thanks for posting that! That's not to take anything away from Don Alm - he is great at ideas, and he put his own spin on this restaurant daily specials idea. He's a success, and he deserves to be one. What I love Gordon is that YOU also put your OWN spin on it too, for example you've turned it into a semi-direct mail operation too! (Using, of course, your Remote Hypnosis skills.... :) ) That is, you were able to modify it to suit YOU.... You don't have all day to talk to restaurants, so you turned it into a successful semi-direct mail project! MOST people - if they hit a problem - would give up.... I heard a quote recently. It goes.... There are two types of people in the world. 1. Those who, when they encounter a problem, moan and whine about it, and 2. Those who, when they encounter a problem, DO SOMETHING TO FIX IT! Every successful person is the second type - you won't find many successful people among the first type.... A harsh fact, perhaps, but TRUE. Everyone should ask - "which type am I?" Great post, Gordon! And a great "spin" on the restaurant "daily specials board" idea too.... - Dien Rice Remote Hypnosis - how to persuade people to do your will, from any distance, by mail or the internet ! |

![]() Was why so many people were upset with such a great marketing lesson, and I am not talking just about the daily menu board but the entire evolution of a very simple post by Don. To me watching what evolved was fascinating.
It seems we have too many shallow thinkers, and people looking for handouts rather than working an idea, much like Gordon did. See that is another great lesson, Gordon said he had a full time job but still took action, amazing. Dave Roberts |

![]() It is sad but many people nowadays just want a free handout in life and don't want to do the work involved like Gordon Alexander did!

I don't mean to offend you, but it isn't a matter of being upset with such a great marketing lesson. Sometimes there seems to be a double standard on these forums. When Gordon does this everyone cheers about what a great free thinker he is (nothing against Gordon, more power to him), yet when another person asked a few questions in an attempt to do this it didn't go over quite as well. I would really hate to see these forums turn into nothing more than fan clubs. I personaly have learned a lot and would like to continue visiting. More importantly is the fact that I am know a more intelligent consumer. I can now look beyond the marketing hype and see the real offer. That alone can earn me money in the form of savings. I will also add that I have my first job dealing directly with clients, although it is only a part time thing. It isn't as difficult as I thought it would be. In fact, I find that I am enjoying it very much. By the time I go visit a client they are angry and ready to drop our service. I have to then convince them how happy they are to have us. So far I haven't lost any business :) I think some of the posters have been doing some of these things so long that they don't realize that they have lost touch with the feeling of taking that first step. And no matter how hard they try or how well intentioned they are, they can't go back and get that feeling again. One of Sam Walton's biggest regrets was paying such low wages. He admitted that he had so much money he had lost touch with the real working world. Again I want to state that this post is not meant to offend anyone. It is just how I feel. I would really hate to lose the experience and the wisdom of the posters to these forums. Scott S. p.s. It's like you yourself said about buying someones's product. It may help remove a lot of the learning curve. It certainly should never be taken as a sign of failure or ones ability. Love means... ![]() |
