Seems to me that 'glass hat' is more appropriate - it is still a barrier above our heads, but this time one we place there ourselves. And, just as importantly, if we chose to we can take it off. Restrictions are often in the eyes of the restricted. Certainly in the real world women are subjected to subtle (and not so subtle) restrictions. As are minorities and members of religious groups. In my observations these restrictions are not particularly prevalent on the Internet. Who cares about the color of your skin, which building you worship in or your genetic makeup. The only thing we can all be judged on is the quality of the information we offer. And long may it remain that way. Martin |
