Default You have a business name, you have a mission statement... but I bet you don't have a

corporate anthem yet!

Join the likes of IBM, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, and GE in composing an anthem for your business!

Wow.... There's even a song for the Netscape/Sun alliance!

Below, you can find the "Top 20" business anthems, for your listening pleasure.... :)

When will there be a radio station devoted just to playing corporate anthems? ;)

I am considering moving out of the US. Where is the cost of living decent over in Europe, in your opinion?

Default Living in Europe or Downunder....

Hi Taylor....

I'm not very familiar with Europe, hopefully someone else can help with your query? I know a lot of Europeans visit Sowpub....

Language could be a factor for you. If you need a place where everyone speaks English, in Europe you'd probably have to choose the UK or Ireland. If you speak Spanish, then Spain could be an option too....

While I haven't visited Europe much, from meeting travelers, though, it seems that a lot of Europeans speak English as a second language. However, if you don't speak the "native tongue" it might be a barrier....

Downunder here in Australia isn't a bad place to be, in my opinion (though we're not in Europe!). If you can make it to Australia, many say that culturally, it's a little bit like Canada (with a warmer climate). We get both American and British influences in our culture here in Australia....

I haven't spent much time in New Zealand, but I think it's a nice place to live too. I know Bill Myers spent some time living in New Zealand.

I probably didn't help much, hopefully someone who knows more than I do about Europe can also add some comments. :)

Hi, Taylor ... well, I don't know how you'd rate the cost of living in the UK ... but there are other benefits :-) -
(or at least that's what I keep telling myself!!

If you'd like some specific information about the Scottish part of the UK please let me know and I'll do my best to be helpful!

Best

Taylor:

I got an email from my cousins in London the other day. They moved there for work, from Australia.

As he said: London is expensive BUT the wages are higher to compensate - he's on about £30-£40 an hour.

He also said he was able to save the same amount as in Australia and because it was in English pounds it worked out to be more money, after conversion.

In other words, in Australia he may have been able to save $50AUS a week. In London he is able to save £50 a week (which converts to about $135AUS)

Of course, he's looking at it from the point of view of coming back to Australia, and not living there forever. (he's not married, engaged or otherwise at the moment, so that could easily change)

Hope this helps somewhat.

Michael Ross.

Compared to the US, the cost of living in Europe is much higher.

Food and accomodation are the killers, but small things compare badly as well. Like hotel rooms (where you pay per person, not per room). Petrol (gas) is wickedly expensive here. Reckon on about $5 a gallon in the UK.

I live in London and spend quite a bit of time in the US. I know that my pounds don't go as far in the US as they used to, but they still go a lot further than they do at home.

A pair of Nike trainers that I can buy in the US for $40 or less will cost me $130 or so here.

Restaurants don't know about endless cups and bottomless glasses. You pay for each drink individually.

Levi jeans can cost $100 a pair.

You get the picture!

If you are serious about moving to the UK, and location is not an issue (on the Internet, who cares where you are based), then go for a rural town in the North of the country. Property prices will be far lower.

Buying a house in London will likely bankrupt you!

If you want to chat more about the UK, email me. You know the address.

Best wishes,

Martin.
