![]() Words are powerful...way more powerful than most of us realize.
Words can calm a storm. Words can kill. Words can lead you home. They can send you on a wild goose chase. I agree that on the internet, words must lead the way. Even if you have fast-loading pictures of your product on your finely-tuned website, it is a word that is typed in the search engine that gets you there. You may not even be looking for something to buy. But a well-crafted paragraph may spark an interest in you that will result in your purchasing something you didn't even know you wanted. I have a rock. It is a special rock. Now I know you have no need for a rock. You probably have all the rocks you think you need. But my rock is special in several ways. It is a spiritual rock. It came from the "digs" at Prayer Mountain in Bullitt County, Kentucky. Many prayers have been offered up to God from Prayer Mountain. It is a place where many souls have come to meet with God. So this rock has a heritage of being part of Prayer Mountain. Do I think it has any mystical powers? No, I don't. But the prayers, the words, that have been spoken to the God who created this rock, those words have power. They have moved the hand of God many times. So what? you say. I don't believe in any of that God stuff. OK, it is still a special rock. This rock is full of fossils. Many, many tiny prehistoric animals and plants have been frozen in time in this rock. They are petrified. Locked in for eternity. Stored for the moment someone uncovered this special rock. I wonder what went through the minds of these prehistoric beings as they were buried alive aeons ago? Do you like animals? The cold-blooded kind? The scaly, somewhat ugly kind that crawl and eat bugs? This special rock would be great for a terrarium. Placed on top of a layer of dirt, bark and leaves in a ten gallon aquarium, this special rock would be perfect for the lizards that frolic daily along the edge of the railroad ties that form the retaining wall at the edge of my yard. But I'm sure the lizards are much more happy being free...they don't want my special rock. Maybe fish in that same ten gallon aquarium would appreciate the rock more. They could swim around it. Sooner or later, algae would form on the rock; this would provide a nutritious snack for the fishes. It would be special algae from a special rock. By now, you probably think I have rocks in my head. After all, an adult going on about a rock for several paragraphs...well, there must be something wrong with that guy. You could get so torqued at me that you might want my rock to throw at me. Or maybe you want my rock because your youngster has locked you out of your house, and you can see that they are in danger. You desperately need to break in to rescue your child. My special rock might be just the thing you need to break the glass to unlock the door or window to give you entry. My rock could be the tool you use to save a life. That would make it a very special rock. Yes, my rock is special...in many different ways. You probably have a "special rock", too. How much is yours worth? My Rock is priceless. Be blessed, JDB |
