Default Hidden Messages

Last evening I watched a DVD movie with my boys. It was "Willie Wonka & the Chocolate Factory". I was amazed at the hidden (and not so hidden) messages in the movie that were directed at adults.

Subtle "remote influence" through a kid's movie...who woulda thunk it?

"We are the music makers...And we are the dreamers of the dreams..." Willie Wonka

Dream your dream.

Make your music.

Be blessed,

Default Subliminal messages all around.... or are they?

Hi JDB,

I enjoyed Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory as a kid! Though it's a great movie for "kids of all ages".... :)

Of course, Willie Wonka was an entrepreneur....

On "hidden messages", that raises the topic of "subliminal messages".... Do these exist?

Some think they do.... For example, this web site has examples of possible subliminal print ads....

On the other hand, others say it is all just an urban myth....

So who do we believe?

Hope these sites make you think, the ones in this post. Now, this is always a topic which has fascinated me!

Just my 2 cents worth. We use submilinal techiques in our ad copy on our website with great success. It's pretty clever the way it was done.

We weren't trying to "hide" anything from the visitor, and in fact we've even highlighted the sublims in the message.

Using an NLP technique we crafted the SECOND headline to actually contain two different messages ;)

If you go to 1AutomationWiz.Com and look at the second headline on the page you'll see what I mean.

It's worked really well for us.

Wishful thinking is more in play than any subliminal techniques, methinks. Can you back up with any testing results?

Sure ;) When this technique was used we saw an increase in our conversion of about 6% in the number of people that signed up for our 30 day free demo.

Now to be fair, at first (when we first added this) I couldn't honestly tell you if it was a result of the ad copy or the fact that we added a second headline.

So we ran a rotation script that allowed us to display 3 different pages over a 3 day period. One with the second headline as writen, one with a standard sub-head type headline and one without and 2nd headline.

The results broke down like this:

NO 2nd headline - conversion down 6%
Standard 2nd headline - conversion up 4%
Subliminal headline - conversion up another 2%

:)

Default Doing the Deal....

Hi Don,

Thanks for sharing your experiences and your results!

I haven't done testing like you have.... From my little "experiments" they seem to have some effect, but as I've said, I haven't done a proper test like you've done!

However, having said that, I tend to think the most important thing is the offer.... Is it a good deal for your customer, and can they see that it's a good deal? It's important not to lose sight of that (in my opinion).... The rest can help though....
