![]() Central Illinois farmer Dan Aeschleman recently converted his land to a more lucrative use: attracting foxes and then selling their urine in pump-spray containers ($11.95 for 16 oz.) to landowners to keep nuisance animals away with the "presence" of a predator.
According to a September report in The Pantagraph newspaper of Bloomington, Ill., Aeschleman says the tricky part -- getting the non-domestic foxes to urinate in an orderly fashion and then collecting it all (10,000 gallons a year) -- is a "trade secret." |

![]() Moutain Lion Manure (as related in an earlier post on this board):
http://www.sowpub.com/cgi-bin/forum/webbbs_config.pl?read=5479 To quote: Joe Cossman tells a story of how once, a guy came into his office carrying a few buckets of some foul-smelling stuff. When the guy told his story, it turned out to be mountain lion manure! He said it was great for farmers, to scare away animals who might feed on their crops.... Spread some around, and the other animals stay away. Apparently, there was plenty of this that could be collected from zoos all over the country. However, Joe Cossman turned this opportunity down. ![]() Hi Bill,
Thanks for that story.... :) I did some hunting around, and I found that story and another one on this web page.... As well as Dan Aeschleman's fox urine business, they mentioned another guy. Dave Hoyes sells deer urine to hunters, to hide their scent from their prey. Hmmm.... How do they apply the deer urine - is it used like a cologne? I don't even wanna think about it! :) Here's another article about Dave Hoyes and his deer urine business.... And last but not least - they're not the only ones in the game! You can buy your own 100% predator urines from the "Predator Pee" web site! I'm not sure if I'm in the market for one of their "Got pee?" baseball caps though... But it could make a good gift! ;) - Dien Rice |
