accountant quest

My current accountant has a farming degree and an accounting degree. While he does an OK job, he really understands farmers a lot better than entrepreneurial types.
Many people tell me a good accountant is worth his weight in gold, so as I'm aiming to crank up a number of ventures this year, I'm wondering, what do you look for in an accountant who can add value to your efforts.
