![]() Hey guys,
Wanted to see if anyone had some insight or could point me in the right direction. I'm considering putting on a 1-day 'Wealth Building' seminar where 100% of the profits would help a local Russian boy, named Max, who needs $100,000 in medical care. This child has a rare disease “Cruson's syndrome (craniofacial dysostosis.)” And if he doesn't receive surgery he will die. The family does not have insurance to cover this treatment. I don't want to handle payments coming in and dealing with merchant account issues since 100% of the money is going to this child so I'd rather not have a merchant % taken out before it gets to Max. I don't have time to set myself up a non-profit organization so I thought about working with a local charity - but I want them to make sure 100% of the money goes strictly for this child. Also, I want to see the money go directly for his care and not to his family. Another thought was a donor-directed charity fund however I'm not sure this is what I want. Any ideas, thoughts, etc are most welcome! Thanks so much, Yanik |

![]() Yanik,
Sounds like a very worthy cause. I don't have any experience w/ such an event, but a couple thoughts come to mind. Regarding the merchant account, perhaps you could get a local business (i.e., co-sponsor) to use their account (legal?), with them paying the merchant "discount" as their donation. And/or, work with a local bank (i.e., co-sponsor #2) to set up an escrow account to hold all donations. When the surgery has been performed, all bills are paid directly from the escrow account to the hospital. I'm certain the bank or a lawyer could best advise on how that might be set up. Best of "luck" with it all... ![]() Hi Yanik:
Approach "your" bank manager. Have a trust fund set up in the name of the boy with you and one of his family members as the adminstrators of it...thereby guaranteeing a double signature on the funds to be released....guaranteeing the funds will get to the medical facilities as they become due. Handling the money is quite simple if you indeed do the wealth seminar....those wishing to attend the seminar must deposit donated funds directly into that trust account.....their admission to the Wealth Building seminar is their receipt of deposit from the bank and your personal printed invitation and thank you that can only be handed out from the bank to those that donate. Win/win situation all around.....the young lad has the funds raised for him, you don't have to file as a non-profit charity, the bank and banker gets exposure, and the whole procedure is a newsworthy undertaking that should get coverage on news stations thus guaranteeing a good repsonse for donations. Just thoughts. Cornell |

![]() ....Gary Halbert put together a "Copywriting" seminar in Florida with all proceeds going to the "Hurricane Hugo Victims Fund".
Now Gary has a way of getting people to attend his seminars PLUS he has a great mailing list of prospects thus...he was able to get $2500 from 100 people (A QUARTER MILLION BUX) A bank already had a "Hurricane Hugo" account with an Administrator who made sure the funds went directly to those in need. Any bank should be able to set up and help you administer a fund like this. Some years ago, our volunteer Fire Dept needed a "Jaws of Life" machine. They needed $16,000. They appealed to the community but donations were not coming in...sooo....I went to 30 local businesses....asked them to give me a Special Offer (2 for 1 dinners, Free Lift Tickets, Free or heavily discounted oil changes...etc) and put together a "Book of Coupons" which I sold for $29 with the help of 4 grade school classes (I knew the home room teachers) The kids mostly sold 4 or 5 books to their family and neighbors (some sold 30 or 40 each) BUT...I had 100 kids selling PLUS lots of free publicity....with the result being we sold 1500 books.....raising close to $45,000 from a town of 2200 (we also sold to nearby towns) All monies went into a Special Account I was in charge of. I paid for the printing of the books and presented the Fire Dept with the money they needed PLUS....money left over for a kid who was dieing of Leukemia. Who says we need the GUMMIT to take care of us? This is AMERICA! Home of the FREE and MOST GENEROUS people on this planet. Don Alm 22 Ways To Make $50,000 Starting with $50 |

![]() Dear Yanik,
Thanks for the Masterminding. One of my mentors is Gaylord Briley. He raised 500 million dollars for Norman Vincent Peale. Has gone on to raise more than 3 billion dollars more for charity and non-profits. (Books he's written like "7 Spiritual Secrets" contain wisdom I've read nowhere else.) Gaylord is a phenomenon. He is currently searching for Charities that will allow him to donate 1 million dollars. Of his own money, With the provision that the money be used to fund Gaylord as he creates a multi-million dollar donor list. This is not hot air. Gaylord has one such Charity Donor list well underway. (Give men fish and they get hungry again. Teach them to fish and they feed themselves - is the principle I believe.) If you wish, I'll put you in touch. Gaylord is full of innovative - out of the ordinary ideas... Like the time he was asked to help sell "Dallas Cowboy wives cookbooks." He had only one request. "Put me on the phone for 15 minutes with the owner of the cowboys." They did so. Gaylord asked for and got an introduction to the CEO of the Dallas phone company. Who agreed to insert an offer for the Cookbooks into ALL phone bills AND allow people to PAY on their phone bill. All - at no cost. That's Gaylord. Glenn Osborn P.S. - I can't post Gaylords ph # or E-mail here. But E-mail me at [email protected] and I'll put the two of you together. http://www.weirdNLP.com |

![]() I think the local press should eat this up.
If they have not been contacted they should be. The hospital where the surgery is taking place should have a pr department in turn if that pr department is any good they should already have established contacts with the local print and tv reporters. Any release they send to them should get immediate attention especially the TV people. They would love to film a goodwill story like this. I would think a pres release modeled something like: (age) Child With Bone Development Disease Makes Desperate Plea To (name of community where surgery takes place) Funds can be directed straight to the hospital where hospital can set up a reserve account for the child. So you would not have to touch it. 2) I would take your business offer to a more targeted group with bucks and who have an interest in business and who could benefit from good pr. First thought the local Chamber Of Commerce if it is large enough. Your angle could be something like: "Local Chamber Members Turn Over Their Cash Registers To Little Girl to Help Save Her Life" I hope this helps. Do You Know About The Money Alphabet? |
